Don't understand either, I also Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Hi Brian. No one can say you hadn’t a wonderful return on Google. Besides, I think it’s fine to sell it if you are not feeling comfortable holding it anymore.

I would avoid the index funds, mutual funds, or those specific stocks for the time being. The 5% fixed incomes are the safest bet for now. Save your cash for when the market actually shows sign of recovery

The really appreciate the transparency. However this portfolio looks more like a high beta tech fund with a maximum drawdown far greater than the market, which would be the opposite of anti-fragile. When I hear anti-fragilre I am thinking about diversification across different asset classes, similar to what university endowments are doing.

Google is the toughest decision and I completely understand the logic. I cut my exposure in half about 6 months ago when OpenAI financial analysts were beginning to talk about its impact on people using regular search from Google. RUclips has so much room to grow. Also, I would not be surprised if they announced a competitive AI solution for their office suite (equivalent to Word, Excel, etc.) at a much better cost than Microsoft's $30 a month. It might even be more fully integrated with Gmail and other key Google apps. MSFT is the one I have to watch out for because AMZN and MSFT have such a big ownership % in my portfolio.

If you think google might no longer give you huge returns, fine. But saying it's not antifragile? What??? This AI boom is overblown as hell. Go outside and ask normal people not super in to tech if they have any idea what AI/ChatGPT is and you'll realize a lot of them will be clueless. Those who know have cited how bad they can be; the other day my radio was talking about how you should never use ChatGPT for asking medical questions. 99.99% people on the other hand will know what google and youtube is. Google and youtube are not going out of fashion any time soon and besides, google is already working their own AI. If there is anything antifragile it's freaking google.

I completely agree with you on Google. I know you hold axon and Meli as well. Both of which have much better growth ahead.

I looked at buying this company 3 years ago when the price was 300 or more. This one is just too volatile, not enough profits, and too unstable for me. Maybe at a far, far lower price and valuation I would be able to put up with all of this. But given the euphoria in the large cap stocks and a possible recession next year it is a no brainer for me. I don't want it.

AI products will get better by reinforcement learning (age of feeding larger and larger data sets is almost behind us). Google search is an enormous feedback loop that will make their AI better than anyone else’s overtime. Making a large language model is just the start not the end. Just hear the testimony of Nadella on google antitrust case last year. He will not waste his time on the testimony if he believed open AI was an answer for google

There's no need to slim down the portfolio arbitrarily. It's a pointless rule you're imposing on yourself. I understand it though and the reasoning seems very sound on your choices. But I wouldn't be killing Google. One should not cut one of the most dominant companies on the planet in order to concentrate the portfolio... I practiced deep concentration for several years (only a few stocks) and it was the biggest mistake I ever made, ended up far underperforming the market and I consider it wasted years. I'll never do it again... I'd be buying Google personally. But thanks for the video Brian, love the transparency of the channel

Agree on your analysis with Google, it's "cash cow" is getting disrupted, but it has really amazing other businesses. Google at the end might be an even bigger disruptor in the end, but it needs to put out new products and that is risky. One thing Alphabet could consider is to actually spin-off their businesses to raise capital, and still have a stake at them. This would mean investors could buy RUclips for example and I bet those businesses would be more profitable by working more independently.

Google???? whoa. It is a weird decision, there is nothing anywhere indicating a search problem. Everything is growing !!!! search, youtube, cloud !!! And Google is a close second in AI race, investing billions every months. And Google has a moat no one has : datas. Google is the number one in datas collection which will be be so usefull to have the better AI. And Google is just reaching a new all time high !! It's a decision very irrationnal to my opinion, based on fud. But congrats for the gain you made on it.
